A daruma doll is an ornament shaped like egg with a human face and no hands or legs.
A daruma is a piece of folk art, shaped like Dharma （the founder of a Buddhist sect） seated in a kneeling position, and made from paper mache, paper pasted over wood or bamboo, etc. It's customary to paint the eyes in on a giant daruma after winning an election.
