The Taimatsu Akashi fire festival has been held in Sukagawa every year for over 420 years.
Originally a memorial service for warriors from the Samurai era, it has turned into a dramatic event that reminds us a bit of what it must have been like in those feudal days.
This year the festival has a special purpose, to remember victims of the disaster.
Also, as a sign of recovery, it unites the people of Fukushima.
