The fermented rice wine known as sake has been enjoyed in Japan for so long that not everyone is sure of its origin.

Now, with advancements in technology, brewers are taking the ancient drink into the future with new tastes and flavors.
Internationally celebrated every year for over a decade, the Joy of Sake festival happen again in Tokyo to celebrate the classic beverage.

The event will feature around 390 selections of different sakes to taste.
Additionally, an assortment of dishes will be present, many of which have been prepared with sake.


The annual event will have live Hawaiian music to accompanying the clinks of people cheering and drinking. (Vanessa Scheer)
