Fire Festival at Daijo-in of Miyajima Shrine, Hatsukaichi City, Hiroshima

15th November, 2018 | at Daijo-in of Miyajima Shrine, Hatsukaichi City, Hiroshima
Miyajima Island, one of the most scenic spots in Japan, has long been regarded as an Island of Gods on the beautiful Seto Inland Sea.
It is a romantic and historical island where Itsukushima Shrine, a World Heritage site, is located, along with the Virgin Forest of Mt. Misen, and numerous preserved shrines, temples and historical monuments.
Various events and ritual festivals held around Itsukushima Shrine, and in many other places on the island, help us to fully appreciate the changing seasons, the graceful Heian culture, and the heroic Muromachi culture of ancient Japan.   (*reference: Miyajima Official Tourism Website)
