Fukiagehama Sand Festival, Minami Satsuma, Kagoshima

Fukiagehama Sand Festival, Minami Satsuma, Kagoshima

3rd - 27th May, 2018 | Minami Satsuma, Kagoshima Fukiagehama Beach boasts Japan's longest stretch of sakyū (sand dunes), which is shared between three cities in Kagoshima Prefecture. One of those is Minamisatsuma, which also invites sand sculptors from here and abroad to take part in a sand-sculpting contest.
Visitors can view their entries, which include a sculpture of a 10-meter-plus dinosaur, and try sand art themselves during this month's sand festival.
Event organizers will add a colorful touch to the presentation of the main sculptures by lighting them up at night, setting off fireworks and providing musical accompaniment till May 6.
